Lynchburg, VA – The Lynchburg Regional Airport has gotten federal money to make improvements.
The FAA awarded the airport a $4 million grant for taxiway and apron expansion work.
Airport Director Mark Courtney says this money will help complete improvements to the configuration of the airfield to meet new FAA design standards.
The latest phase of construction is set to get underway sometime this month, and be done by next summer.
A recent report shows passenger traffic at the airport is down more than 5 % from this time last year.
