WACO (August 22, 2013)—A Lacy Lakeview man was arrested Monday at Waco Regional Airport after security officers found a handgun inside his luggage.
McLennan County Jail records show Kenneth Vincent Krieger, 48, posted a $5,000 bond and was released from custody on a carrying a weapon in a prohibited place charge.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Transportation Safety Administration officers noticed the handgun as Krieger was being cleared through airport security and summoned a Waco police officer who was working at the airport.
The officer arrested Krieger for bringing a gun into a place where weapons are prohibited.
Carrying a weapon into the secured area of an airport is illegal, Swanton said.
Swanton said Wednesday Krieger works for a company that requires him to travel and he was on his way to a job when he was detained.
Krieger told officers he had forgotten the gun was inside his bag.

Swanton said that’s not an uncommon occurrence and pointed out Krieger has no criminal history and posed no threat to officers or the public.
