Federal Aviation Administration’s new air traffic control tower at Memphis International Airport
Memphis International Airport and the Federal Aviation Administration are showing off the new $72.6 million air traffic control tower Thursday for local officials, media and dignitaries.
Although the tower has the latest and greatest technology, one of its main strengths is an old one: height.
The new 14-story, 336-foot tower is the third tallest in the U.S., behind Atlanta and Orlando. It dwarfs the old tower, which measures just under half the height of the new one at 186 feet.
