CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Transportation Security Agents at the Eastern Iowa Airport found a gun in a carry-on bag Saturday night.
The .380-caliber Taurus was loaded with seven rounds and had five rounds in a magazine. This was the first firearm officers have found during screening at the Eastern Iowa Airport since 2010.
Nationwide, TSA officers found about 1,500 guns in passengers’ carry-on bags in 2012. Airlines are required to know if someone plans to travel with a gun. Guns are only allowed in checked bags and must be unloaded and stored in a locked container.
